Overview
Graviton was set up in 2014 by IIT Delhi graduates with quantitative trading experience. It trades all asset classes with execution strategies built in house, through separate trading teams that run a wide range of strategies.
Graviton says it finds pricing glitches by running filtering, classification, time series analysis, pattern recognition, stochastic models and statistical inference over terabytes of data.
The corporate office is in Gurugram, India. The Singapore subsidiary dates from 2018 and is at One Raffles Place. The 2027 internship posting also lists Amsterdam, London and New York.
As of February 2026, Graviton had recently set up a UK affiliate, led by its new London-based head of Europe, as a talent hub for European research and development.
Programmes
Quantitative Researcher 2027 Summer Internship
The internship runs 10 to 12 weeks in Amsterdam, London, New York or Singapore. It is for full-time undergraduate, Master's or PhD students in maths, physics, computer science, statistics or a related field who graduate in 2028.
The posting asks for a grounding in probability, statistics, linear algebra and optimisation, plus some machine learning, statistical modelling or data analysis from coursework, research or your own projects. You also need strong Python, C++ or both, though the posting says Graviton cares more about how you think than about specific technologies.
You get a mentor, a reporting manager and a buddy, with regular code reviews and feedback. Successful interns finish a complete research project, from hypothesis to evaluation.
As of July 2024, the quant internship in India ran roughly 10am to 8pm, with two days of paid leave a month and a hotel for the whole stay. Mentor check-ins were daily, sometimes hourly.
Quantitative Researcher PhD 2027 Internship
This one also runs 10 to 12 weeks and is for full-time PhD students in maths, physics, computer science, statistics or a related field who graduate in 2028.
Quantitative Researcher, 2027 Graduates
These roles are in Singapore, London, Amsterdam and the US. You need a degree in maths, physics, computer science, statistics, operations research, machine learning or another quantitative field, and strong Python, C++ or both.
You don't need finance experience. Exposure to quant research, algorithmic trading, market microstructure, competitive maths or machine learning helps, but Graviton says it cares more about how you think. The posting also requires "no active backlogs".
Graduate Central Execution Trader, Singapore
The role sits on the Central Trading Desk in Singapore and asks for a bachelor's degree, preferably in computer science, electrical engineering, maths, finance, business analytics or a related field.
You need to stay calm under pressure and make quick decisions in live trading, with a solid grasp of financial markets and instruments and of electronic and algorithmic trading. Graviton's culture page adds that traders should keep building their statistical analysis and programming skills.
Application
The test and interview details below come from IIT Kanpur and IIT Bombay students' write-ups between 2023 and 2026.
Graviton's ad for a university recruiter in Gurugram describes campus hiring as outreach, assessments, internships, PPO conversion and onboarding. The ad has that recruiter schedule assessments and allocate interview panels with the Tech and Quant teams, and build interviewer calibration so evaluation stays consistent.
As of June 2023, IIT Kanpur's initial resume shortlist for software interns, before the coding test, was based on CPI (grade point average). As of July 2024, three students there were shortlisted from the software test, and the resume played little role.
As of July 2024, an IIT Bombay quant intern who applied off campus had to message HR staff on LinkedIn, and only some replied. As of July 2024, another IIT Bombay quant intern, an electrical engineering student, called Graviton's and Optiver's selection much fairer than firms that shortlisted mainly computer science students.
Online assessment
Quant test
As of September 2026, the IIT Bombay quant researcher test covered probability, maths, game theory and puzzles.
In the 2024-25 placement season at IIT Kanpur, the quant test was puzzles only. As of July 2024, the IIT Kanpur test had 3 to 4 problems, and quant and software roles got different tests.
As of June 2023, the IIT Kanpur quant test had four written-answer questions on probability, bitwise XOR and functions. As of June 2023, an IIT Kanpur software intern also sat a quantitative aptitude test on probability and discrete maths, focused on recursion, expected values and Bayes' theorem.
Software test
In the 2025-26 placement season at IIT Kanpur, the software test was one online assessment of four questions in about an hour: two data structures and algorithms problems, one on smart pointers and one on concurrency. The algorithm problems were competitive-programming style, and one came straight from a past Codeforces contest.
In the 2024-25 season there, the software process opened with a pen-and-paper round with written answers, so write down everything relevant you know.
As of July 2024, the IIT Kanpur software test was 90 minutes with three questions on topics such as dynamic programming and graphs. As of June 2023 it was a one-hour coding test on tree traversal and dynamic programming.
Interviews
Quant interviews
As of September 2026, the questions in the two IIT Bombay technical rounds were mostly easy variants of problems from well-known quant puzzle collections, and some trading intuition helps.
As of July 2024, one IIT Bombay quant intern had three rounds over Google Meet: two technical and one HR. The first technical round ran more like a discussion, and you were judged mostly on how clearly you explained your thinking. The second interviewer started asking questions as soon as he joined, with no introductions.
As of July 2024, IIT Kanpur also ran two technical rounds and an HR round. As of July 2024, an IIT Bombay intern who applied off campus had two rounds: puzzles first, then questions on his finance-related internships and two medium-to-hard probability problems.
Between 2023 and 2026, IIT quant tests and interviews covered:
- Puzzles, which made up the first round in one 2024 and one 2026 process.
- Probability, including an expected value you find by building an inductive relationship.
- Combinatorics.
- Game theory, on one 2026 test and in both technical rounds of one 2024 process.
- Strategy problems, such as egg dropping with several cases and limits on eggs and floors.
- Mental maths, alongside the strategy problems.
- Laplace's equation applied in a discrete setting.
Software interviews
In the 2025-26 placement season at IIT Kanpur, software candidates had two online interviews after the test, then one in person on day 1 of placements. Questions covered memory pools, a tree problem, debugging vector iterator invalidation, const, constexpr, branch predictors and smart pointers. Interviewers gave hints, so stay calm and think out loud.
In the 2024-25 season, one software candidate had five back-to-back rounds in IIT Kanpur's day 1.1 slot, lasting about 3.5 hours. Rounds one and two were algorithms and heuristics, worked through with the interviewer to improve your approach. Rounds three and four were knowledge questions on C++ internals, networks, computer architecture, operating systems and Linux. Round five was culture fit and projects.
As of June 2023, the first IIT Kanpur software interview was coding on query data structures and tree operations. The second covered computer organisation: pipelining, memory management and stack manipulation.
How to prepare
- Practise expected value problems you solve with a recursion or an inductive step. As of July 2024, an IIT Bombay second-round puzzle needed an inductive relationship, and as of June 2023 the IIT Kanpur aptitude test focused on recursion, expected values and Bayes' theorem.
- Drill counting problems as well. As of July 2024, the first IIT Bombay technical round included a combinatorics question.
- Solve puzzles out loud. As of September 2026 the first IIT Bombay quant round was puzzles, and as of July 2024 the first interviewer judged how clearly you explained your thinking.
- Revise game theory. As of September 2026 it was on the IIT Bombay quant test, and as of July 2024 it came up in both technical rounds of one IIT Bombay process.
- Keep your arithmetic fast. As of June 2023, the IIT Kanpur quant interview mixed mental maths questions in with strategy problems such as egg dropping.
- As of September 2026, some trading intuition helps in the IIT Bombay quant interviews, and the Graduate Central Execution Trader role asks for quick decisions in live trading. Practise quoting a price, taking a fill and managing the position.
